ATMS 517 Data Science for the Geosciences
Build and apply basic-to-intermediate data science tools in Python to weather and climate data, to process, statistically analyze, visualize, and understand patterns. Meets 1/16/24 - 5/1/24 with asynchronous lecture and synchronous lab section.
ATMS 526 Risk analysis in the Geosciences
Build and apply statistical models and tools in R to evaluate risk and uncertainty and improve decision-making for high-impact weather and climate events, using probability theory , hypothesis testing, extreme value theory and time series analysis. Meets 1/16/24 - 5/1-24 with asynchronous lecture and synchronous lab section.
ATMS 523 Weather and Climate Data Analytics
Build and apply advance, open-source data science tools in Python for statistical analysis of weather and climate data, using techniques such as time series analysis, neural networks, image analysis, data assimilation, and objective analysis. Meets 1/16/24 - 5/1/25 with asynchronous lecture and synchronous lab section.
GGIS 407 Foundations of CyberGIS & Geospatial Data Science
Intended to introduce students to cyberGIS; students will apply cyberGIS techniques to analyze and visualize geospatial data in Python, using advanced cyberinfrastructure and high-performance computing. Online asynchronous course from 1/16/24 - 3/8/24.
